The Reality of God
Part 3
Eyewitnesses to God’s Physical Presence
The actual physical body of Yhovah
is described by eyewitness testimony in scripture. Though such a
concept is condemned in orthodox religion and is regarded as heresy,
the words of Moses, Daniel, and the Apostle John make such a charge
a moot point
The Eyewitnesses
Moses Sees God
A little understood and effectively ignored experience by
Moses strongly reinforces the very physical presence of God. Moses
actually asked to see God and was granted that request. From the
scenario scripted in the Bible we find a very simple, yet incredible
thought-provoking event. God places Moses in a fissure of a large
rock and walks past the rock. As he passes by, he holds his hand up
preventing Moses from seeing his face, but allows him to view God
from behind as he has passed. Here is the biblical rendering of this
event:
♦ And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory. And he said, I
will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the
name of the Lord before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be
gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy. And he
said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and
live. And the Lord said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou
shalt stand upon a rock: And it shall come to pass, while my glory
passeth by, that I will put thee in a Clift of the rock, and will
cover thee with my hand while I pass by: And I will take away mine
hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be
seen. (Exodus 33:18-23)
There can be no doubt that three very specific things are
represented in this scriptural account of an actual eyewitness to
the physical presence of God.
· He
can be detected with human vision.
· He
has a body form with parts similar to humans. A face, which presumes
a head, a hand, which one assumes is attached to an arm, and a
torso.
· His
physical presence, especially his face, can either cause harm to a
human, or for some other reason, must not be seen by humans.
Daniel Sees God
♦ I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the ancient of days
did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head
like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his
wheels as burning fire. (Daniel 7:9)
John Sees God
John, the Apostle, the author of Book of Revelation, also was
an eyewitness to the physical body of the God Yhovah, and more
descriptive than Daniel’s account. It is not a great leap to
consider that Daniel is describing the same God, before he became
Jesus, and John is describing him after his resurrection and return
to a “godly” state.
♦ I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a
great voice, as of a trumpet, Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the
first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send
it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto
Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and
unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea. And I turned to see the voice
that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden
candlesticks; And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like
unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and
girt about the paps with a golden girdle. His head and his hairs
were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame
of fire; And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a
furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters. And he had in
his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp
twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his
strength. And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he
laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the
first and the last: (Revelation 1:10-17)
Here Yhovah, an Elohiym, a God, is described as having
feet, a chest, a head, hair, hands, eyes, and a mouth.
The Physical Sounds of God
The emanation of loud sound and the
broadcasting of amplified voices booming from the vehicles of God
are another strong indication of the advanced technological nature
of the Elohiym. Sounds like thunder, trumpets, and great, thunderous
voices that all can hear, but where no individual can be seen
speaking, are the norm when the vehicles are present. The following
verse actually verifies that, indeed, somebody is heard speaking
whom the listeners cannot see. With the advancement of modern
communications and recordings, this is a recently discovered
phenomenon.
· God
Speaks:
♦
Deuteronomy 4:12 And the Lord spake unto you out of the
midst of the fire: ye heard the voice of the words, but saw no
similitude; only ye heard a voice but saw no similitude; only ye
heard a voice.
Similitude means a visible likeness, or embodiment: Clearly
they are as amazed by hearing a person speak remotely as the first
telephone caller or radio listeners were.
· And
the voice of God is physically “heard” many times in scripture:
♦ Exodus 20:22 And the Lord said unto Moses, Thus thou shalt
say unto the children of Israel, Ye have seen that I have talked
with you from heaven.
God emphasizes the importance of the act of speaking from
the sky.
♦
Deuteronomy 4:12 And the Lord spake unto you out of the
midst of the fire: ye heard the voice of the words, but saw no
similitude; only ye heard a voice but saw no similitude; only ye
heard a voice
Moses emphasizes that Yhovah actually broadcast his voice,
but did not actually appear.
♦
Deuteronomy 4:36 Out of heaven he made thee to hear his
voice, that he might instruct thee: and upon earth he shewed thee
his great fire; and thou heardest his words out of the midst of the
fire.
♦
Deuteronomy 5:4 The Lord talked with you face to face in
the mount out of the midst of the fire,
♦
Deuteronomy 5:22 These words the Lord spake unto all your
assembly in the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud,
and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: and he added no more.
And he wrote them in two tables of stone, and delivered them unto
me.
♦
Deuteronomy 5:23 And it came to pass, when ye heard the
voice out of the midst of the darkness, (for the mountain did burn
with fire,) that ye came near unto me, even all the heads of your
tribes, and your elders;
♦
Deuteronomy 5:24 And ye said, Behold, the Lord our God
hath shewed us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his
voice out of the midst of the fire: we have seen this day that God
doth talk with man, and he liveth. 25 Now therefore why should we
die? for this great fire will consume us: if we hear the voice of
the Lord our God any more, then we shall die.
♦
Deuteronomy 31:15 The Lord talked with you face to face in
the mount out of the midst of the fire,
♦
Daniel 4:31 While the word was in the king's mouth, there
fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it
is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee.
♦
Matthew 3:16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up
straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto
him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and
lighting upon him: 17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my
beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
♦
Matthew 24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great
sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from
the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
♦
Mark 1:10 And straightway coming up out of the water, he
saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon
him: 11 And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my
beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. 12 And immediately the
Spirit driveth him into the wilderness.
♦
Luke 3:21 Now when all the people were baptized, it came
to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was
opened, 22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a
dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my
beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.
♦
Luke 9:34 While he thus spake, there came a cloud, and
overshadowed them: and they feared as they entered into the cloud.
35 And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my
beloved Son: hear him. 36 And when the voice was past, Jesus was
found alone. And they kept it close, and told no man in those days
any of those things which they had seen.
♦
John 12:28 Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a
voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will
glorify it again. 29 The people therefore, that stood by, and heard
it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.
♦
Acts 9:7 And the men which journeyed with him stood
speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man.
♦
Acts 11:9 But the voice answered me again from heaven,
What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.
♦
Acts 22:6 And it came to pass, that, as I made my journey,
and was come nigh unto Damascus about noon, suddenly there shone
from heaven a great light round about me. 7 And I fell unto the
ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why
persecutest thou me? 8 And I answered, Who art thou, Lord? And he
said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth whom thou persecutest. 9 And
they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but
they heard not the voice of him that spake to me. 10 And I said,
What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said unto me, Arise, and go into
Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things which are
appointed for thee to do.
Jesus speaks from the sky.
♦
Hebrews 12:25 See that ye refuse not him that speaketh.
For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much
more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh
from heaven:
♦ 2 Peter 1:17 For he
received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such
a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in
whom I am well pleased.
This is referring to the encounter at the baptism of Jesus.
♦
2 Peter 1:18 And this voice which came from heaven we
heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.
This is a reference to the voice they heard at the
Transfiguration.
