♦
Genesis 24:42 And I came
this day unto the well, and said, O LORD God of my master Abraham,
if now thou do prosper my way which I go: 43 Behold, I stand by the
well of water; and it shall come to pass, that when the virgin
cometh forth to draw water, and I say to her, Give me, I pray thee,
a little water of thy pitcher to drink; 44 And she say to me, Both
drink thou, and I will also draw for thy camels: let the same be the
woman whom the LORD hath appointed out for my master's son. 45 And
before I had done speaking in mine heart, behold, Rebekah came forth
with her pitcher on her shoulder; and she went down unto the well,
and drew water: and I said unto her, Let me drink, I pray thee. 46
And she made haste, and let down her pitcher from her shoulder, and
said, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: so I drank, and
she made the camels drink also. 47 And I asked her, and said, Whose
daughter art thou? And she said, the daughter of Bethuel, Nahor's
son, whom Milcah bare unto him: and I put the earring upon her face,
and the bracelets upon her hands. 48 And I bowed down my head, and
worshipped the LORD, and blessed the LORD God of my master Abraham,
which had led me in the right way to take my master's brother's
daughter unto his son.
♦
Genesis 49: 30 In the cave
that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the
land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the
Hittite for a possession of a buryingplace. 31 There they
buried Abraham and Sarah his wife; there they buried Isaac and
Rebekah his wife; and there I buried Leah.
Ruth
("friendship, companion")
Ruth was the ancestress of Christ. She was a Moabite
and the wife of Mahlon and the daughter-in-law of Naomi. After
Mahlon’s death, she married Boaz. Ruth is one of the two women that
have books named after them in the Bible.
♦
Ruth 1:4 And they took them wives
of the women of Moab; the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of
the other Ruth: and they dwelled there about ten years. 5 And
Mahlon and Chilion died also both of them; and the woman was left of
her two sons and her husband.
♦
Ruth 1:14 And they lifted
up their voice, and wept again: and Orpah kissed her mother in law;
but Ruth clave unto her. 15 And she said, Behold, thy sister in law
is gone back unto her people, and unto her gods: return thou after
thy sister in law. 16 And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee,
or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I
will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be
my people, and thy God my God:
♦
Ruth 4:10 Moreover Ruth the
Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, have I purchased to be my wife, to
raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, that the name of
the dead be not cut off from among his brethren, and from the gate
of his place: ye are witnesses this day.

and desiring a certain thing of him. 21 And he said unto her, What
wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit,
the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy
kingdom. 22 But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask.
Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be
baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto
him, We are able. 23 And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed
of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with:
but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give,
but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father.
♦
Matthew 27: 55 And many

bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased
him. Isaiah

ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon
the stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it be a

that she was sick, and died: whom when they had washed, they laid
her in an upper chamber. 38 And forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to
Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent
unto him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to
them. 39 Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they
brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him
weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while
she was with them. 40 But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled
down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise.
